Countdown: T-minus 15 days!!! (huh, wuh?)
What’s this? Another revised due date? Yep, Julie is scheduled for a C-Section in 15 days! That’s like… 2 weeks!!
Thank goodness the nursery’s ready!

The boys are really doing great, but the docs don’t want Julie to even try to push them out given her uncooperative intestines. (In case you may not have heard, Julie was admitted to the hospital again for 5 days a couple weeks ago with another small bowel obstruction, got another NG tube, more drugs etc… it was deja-vu all over again and not fun at all… oh yeah, she’s still on an all liquid diet too… not fun either.) Anyway, her C-Section will really be quite an event. Did you figure out yet that 15 days from the date of this post is Julie’s birthday, April 24th!? Well it is, and if all goes well, it’ll be the boys’ birthday too. What a birthday present for Julie, what at treat for the boys and what a thrill for a doting husband and father!! (Actually, I think the real plus will be my birthday, but more on that some other time!) Anyway, Julie’s birthday was the only day around the time she needs to be delivered that the general surgeons and the obstetricians could get together to perform the surgery(ies). After the OBs deliver the boys, the surgeons will go rooting around her bowels looking for trouble. We’re praying they can find the cause of her obstructions and snip it in the bud! (hehehe…
Ok, ok, that’s pretty exciting stuff, right? But boiled nipples??. Well, that’s just what I did the other day. You see, Julie’s baby shower was last Saturday and among all the wonderful gifts were many bottles and quite a few nipples. Who knew they needed to be boiled to be sterilized?… it’s all new to me! (side note: soon to be everyday vocabulary making me laugh and shake my head as I type this: nipples, poopy, binky, peepee, potty…) We received so many wonderful gifts from loving family and great Friends, THANK YOU! We had a really exciting week. Julie’s Mom & Dad came in from Ohio for the weekend. My parents are here for the summer. And my family’s dear friends Dave & Kathy surprised us by showing up on our doorstep Friday afternoon… just in time to spend the next 24 hours helping us put the finishing touches on the shower preparations. We didn’t know we needed it, but we sure appreciated the help!
Well, from what I understand, the shower was fantastic. You see, us men cut out a couple of hours before hand for some local BBQ at Arthur Bryants (one of the best in the country in my humble opinion!) and saw the movie Wild Hogs while the womenfolk showered the babies… uh, something like that. Everyone had a wonderful time at her party and my mom and Julie’s mom did a great job throwing and hosting the shower. Most importantly they saved me some cake
Here’s a little gallery of pictures from the weekend:
Now we have two weeks to go until Tanner & Tucker grace us with their presence and we just can’t wait. Julie’s belly is a mound of babies and the way they move around is quite a distraction for the both of us. I can’t believe it’s right around the corner after all this time, I mean, hasn’t she been pregnant forever?! Now if I can just get Julie to pack a bag….
Thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes. Keep it up! (Some prayers for warm weather wouldn’t hurt either!)
