Birthday

You are currently browsing the archive for the Birthday category.

After starting to really believe it would never come, Spring has sprung around here, complete with wonderful thunderstorms and not so wonderful tornadoes. The grass is growing, the trees are leafing, and the birds are singing. And not a moment too soon either.

The birthday trio (Julie, Tanner, and Tucker) had a great celebration on their special day and so far they really enjoy being two… uh, the boys, not Julie of course. Grammy and Papa are in the area for the Summer now enjoying time with the boys, me included.

The boys’ new favorite thing to do: throw rocks… into rivers, lakes, puddles… anything with water in it really.

Well, it’s Springtime and the boys are finally enjoying the great outdoors as often as possible.  Baseball, Harleys, BBQ, green grass, wagon rides, bugs, flowers… the list of things to enjoy in the Spring is endless…

Can you believe it?  Tanner & Tucker turned one year old on April 24th and Julie was celebrated as a great Mommy on her second Mothers Day.  (Oh yeah, and in case you haven’t been paying attention, Julie’s birthday was also April 24th.)  It has been a fun and busy few weeks.  My parents, that’s Grammie & Papa, are here in the area now for the Summer and we are enjoying the time they can spend with the boys.  Julie and I also enjoy an occasional outing together while the boys take care of Grammie & Papa… uh, well, you know what I mean.

Anyway, the boys had a great first birthday.  Lots of fun toys, lots of oohing and aahing, laughing and giggling while they dug into their first birthday cakes lovingly homemade and decorated by Mommy.  There were definitely two different cake attack plans.  Tucker dove right into the cake and started shoving it in his mouth (well some of it made it into his mouth anyway, the rest was all over his face!) Eventually Tucker discovered the cake on Tanner’s tray and did his best to steal it (pretty successfully too).  Tanner on the other hand, took a much more dignified approach by touching and enjoying the textures and aromas of this new found treat.  Then digging in only to discover that frosting is sticky!  Eeeewww!   He did get the idea though, but eventually requested a spoon with which he could maximize his intake and minimize his mess.

Now that the boys have passed the one year mark,  a lot of things have changed for them.  They finally get to ride in the car facing forward, and one of their birthday presents was a couple of plush, cooshy, and comfortable reclining Eddie Bauer car/booster seats (armrests and cupholders standard).  Any and all food restrictons for kids are reserved for little babies under one year old so the sky has been the limit on what the boys have been able to try.  Peanut butter, honey, scambled eggs, french toast, real veggies (as in, not pureed), crackers (Cheezits were first), hot dogs, chicken, beef, etc.  Nothing is off limits now.  Of course, notice I didn’t say they like it all… but they actually do like most everything we give them.

Mothers Day was really nice this year.  My Mom (Grammie) and Julie (Mommy) had a nice dinner out with the whole family at Red Lobster.  The boys did great for the 2 1/2 hours in the restaurant (it was Mothers Day, and it was very busy).  Tanner and Tucker are such pleasant little boys.  They sat in high chairs and had a grand time of it.  We had a lovely family meal celebrating the wonderful Moms that bless and have blessed our lives.  The Schwarz boys, that would be me, Papa, Tanner and Tucker, are pretty doggone lucky!

I finally figured out how to get the movies off our camcorder onto the computer, so I’ll be putting up various movies from time to time.  Here’s a taste of what’s to come.  No, this is not a birthday movie… patience grasshopper, patience… but I think you will enjoy it…

Wow, I have been waiting for the day when this blog reached the 10,000 visitor mark for a few weeks now.  I thought the counter would actually hit 10,000 by the time Tanner & Tucker turned 1 year old, but at the rate it was going and based on the daily visit counts leading up to their birthday it was going to be a couple of weeks after.  I even thought it would be after I returned home from Las Vegas (today) but a couple of big days for the blog (today and the last day of April) pushed it over the 10,000 mark while I wasn’t watching.  (Actually, since this blog started out for several months over on blogger.com we probably passed the 10,000 mark a while back, but officially I only have the stats since moving to WordPress.)

Anyway, I’ve been in Las Vegas since Saturday and missing Julie and the boys very much.  It was surprisingly (actually not that surprising really) hard to leave them for a short business trip to Vegas.  I’m typing this in McCarren Airport in Las Vegas and I am really excited to get home.  I think the trip was a success for our fledgling business, ORQA, LLC.  We made quite a few demo presentations and got some good solid leads that we will be pursuing vigorously over the next few weeks.  This is all good, but I’m Vegas’d out.  This town is pretty wild.  Home and family sound even better than always right now.

Well, wow, 10,000 visitors from all over the world; dozens of countries and from every continent.  Thank you everyone for reading!  I hope you have enjoyed the blog as much as I have enjoyed writing it.

Next up:  Birthday pictures (finally!) and some video perhaps.  The world needs to see the boys digging in to their birthday cakes!
